A special conference was held on Nov 1 in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on promoting the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle (NEV) and intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) industry.

As the leading player in automobile industry cluster of Wuhan, Xiangyang, Shiyan, and Suizhou, WEDZ has seized the opportunities of the new energy transformation.

In the first nine months of 2022, more than 100,000 NEVs were produced in WEDZ and that number is expected to reach 150,000 by the end of this year. In the next two to three years, more than one million NEVs are expected to be produced across the whole zone, accounting for over 55 percent of vehicles produced in the zone.

The conference also emphasized that more leading automobile enterprises should be introduced in order to promote more industrial chain projects and innovative technologies. In addition, the zone is expected to obtain more funds and support from Hubei province and several national institutions.

Lastly, government examination and approval procedures will be further simplified to help enterprises explore the market and provide a sound environment for the development of the NEV and ICV industry.
