The new site of the Cummins East Asia R&D Center was inaugurated in Junshan New City in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on Nov 25, with an investment of $250 million.

The new site will mainly be committed to the research of low-carbon and zero-carbon products, as well as the building of a multi-energy power technological platform.

Cummins is an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures and distributes engines and filtration and power generation products. Its products include diesel engines, natural gas engines, hydrogen engines and hydrogen fuel cells, which are heavily applied in light and heavy trucks.

The Cummins East Asia R&D Center was established in the zone in 2005, and is the company's second-largest technology center after its counterpart in the United States. The new site has a construction area of 78,000 square meters, which is four times the size of the original one.

More than 500 workers have already moved into the new site, and all of the equipment and workers from the old center will be relocated to the new site by the end of 2023.

By 2025, Cummins expects to achieve zero-carbon production.
