The 2023 Hubei-Europe Economic and Trade Conference was held in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, on July 9. Tang Chao, director of the zone's administrative committee, delivered a keynote speech, inviting German and Austrian entrepreneurs and investors to start new businesses in the zone.

With its 13 renowned car assembly plants and over 1,200 well-established automotive component companies, the zone produces over a million vehicles each year, making it one of the most concentrated automotive industrial hubs in the country. It is sometimes referred to as the "Auto Valley of China".

The zone stands as a beacon of international collaboration and openness, attracting more than 400 foreign-owned enterprises, including Cummins, Faurecia and Lotus. Within its boundaries, people from various corners of the globe have found a second home, including individuals from the United States, Japan, France, the UK, Germany, and many other nations.

Members from the German and Austrian economic and trade delegations, researchers from the National Fuel Cell and Flow Battery Technology Commission, and representatives of the Dongfeng Technology Center carried out in-depth discussions on new collaboration approaches.
