The first Sofitel Hotel project in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, was launched in Junshan New City in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on Feb 18.

Integrating the essence of Chinese and French culture, the project is expected to further improve the zone's city functions.

The project involves a total investment of 700 million yuan ($102.13 million), with a construction area of over 70,000 square meters. The project will have 266 guest rooms and will fuse together accommodation, catering, recreation, fitness, and business facilities.

The project will be roofed this August, and will begin operating by the end of 2024. It will be directly managed by Accor Group Co – a world leading augmented hospitality group.

Sofitel has nearly 200 chain hotels around the globe. Its project in Wuhan will be mainly designed by Aedas, a top British architecture design institution, and will combine Hubei's culture with French aesthetics.

Junshan New City is currently committed to optimizing its city functions, and completing its supporting public infrastructure so that it corresponds to a population of 300,000.
