By the end of 2023, the invention patents filed by enterprises in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) reached 9,049, with a high-value invention patent ownership rate of 35.11 per 10,000 people, doubling from 2020 statistics. This is thanks to the establishment of Wuhan High-value Patent Cultivation Base.

In 2023, the WEDZ added two national intellectual property (IP) demonstration enterprises and five national enterprises with IP advantages.

Established in August 2023, the base is a collaborative effort between the Patent Examination Cooperation Hubei Center of the China National Intellectual Property Administration's Patent Office, the Wuhan market regulation administration, and the zone.

It is dedicated to helping enterprises, R&D institutions, and universities to produce a series of high-value patents with high technological innovation and strong competitiveness. It does this by providing professional IP support for building the Auto Valley Industrial Innovation Corridor.

The base offers professional consulting and guidance for more than 20 companies, such as Dongfeng, ECARX, and VOYAH, in participating in high-value patent competitions and high-value patent cultivation centers.
