Giant puppet show delights Wuhan in Sino-French celebration

The international troupe Archibald Caramantran, presented a free street performance of the giant puppet show Fables of La Fontaine in Wuhan on Saturday and Sunday, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations.

The performance was co-organized by the Consulate General of France in Wuhan, Hubei province and Institut Francais, a French institution for foreign cultural education.

The renowned international troupe used giant puppets and aerial dance to present a dreamlike and colorful series of performances based on the Fables of La Fontaine.

Since its establishment in 2005, the troupe has received wide acclaim for its giant puppets, performing at carnivals, festival celebrations, and opera houses in France and abroad.

La Fontaine's fables are a treasure of French literature. They provide a perfect blend of education and entertainment and are widely used to teach morals to children.

Combining La Fontaine's fables with modern themes, the troupe tells a series of vivid and rapid short plays through music, mime and masks.

The performance in Wuhan featured classic fables such as The Monkey and the Leopard, The Rooster, the Cat, and the Little Mouse and The Wolf and the Lamb.

With concise, lively plots and fast-paced rhythm, the performances provided the audience with an unforgettable visual and auditory feast.
