The 2024 China Carbon Market Conference kicked off in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), featuring discussions on green, low-carbon development, energy-efficiency, environmental protection, and intelligent development.

In recent years, WEDZ has been at the forefront of fostering green productivity and is currently home to 10 national-level green factories and 2 national-level green supply chain management enterprises.

In the first five months of this year, WEDZ completed industrial investments totaling 10.63 billion yuan ($1.46 billion), with technological upgrades accounting for approximately 71 percent of the total.

The zone's remarkable green development achievements can be largely attributed to a raft of measures rolled out by authorities, including accelerating the establishment of a green manufacturing system in industries such as automotive parts and food and beverages.

These efforts have resulted in the creation of several green exemplars characterized by efficient land use, harmless raw materials, clean production, resource recycling, and low-carbon energy.

A local official highlighted that the zone is proactively exploring the path of green and low-carbon development, offering training on green manufacturing systems. Moving forward, WEDZ will continue to nurture more green factories and implement relevant policies to advance the high-end, intelligent, and green transformation of the manufacturing industry.
