The Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Parts Industrial Cluster in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) has been included on the 2024 list of National Specialized and New Industrial Clusters for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises. The announcement was recently made by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The industrial cluster features nine national-level specialized enterprises, 49 provincial-level specialized enterprises, and 151 high-tech enterprises. This cluster forms a robust industrial chain with new energy vehicles at the forefront, supported by key core components and automotive supply chains.
The cluster's total output value has exceeded 37.5 billion yuan ($5.28 billion), with an average annual growth rate of 37.9 percent over the past three years. The annual growth rate of effective invention patents stands at 19 percent.
Regarding digitalization, the total R&D investment of SMEs within the cluster has reached 637 million yuan, with 82.7 percent of SMEs adopting cloud technologies and 86.11 percent utilizing digital R&D applications.
National-level specialized industrial clusters for SMEs must possess strong core competitiveness, with their leading industries ranking at the forefront of their respective fields. They must also demonstrate achievements in cultivating high-quality SMEs, maintain a high-level collaborative industrial and supply chain system, exhibit strong collaborative innovation capabilities, and possess the ability to undergo digital transformation.
