Wuhan is leading the charge in the transition to new energy vehicles (NEVs) with significant advancements in the automotive sector.

Among the city's achievements is the Voyah Titan Ultra, equipped with Huawei's cutting-edge driver-assistance system, which has garnered widespread acclaim for its impressive autonomous driving capabilities.

The city produced 945,000 vehicles in 2025, 524,000 of which were NEVs, a 56.7 percent increase from previous years. Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) saw even greater growth in vehicle production, with a 58.3 percent increase.

This success can be attributed to breakthroughs in core technologies and a restructuring of the industrial supply chain.

The collaboration between "Optics Valley" and "Car Valley" is propelling technological advancements. Recognizing the strategic importance of components, Wuhan aims to optimize the parts-to-vehicle ratio to 1.1:1, with the annual output value of component enterprises expected to exceed 130 billion yuan ($18.69 billion) in 2026.

Voyah, a high-end new energy vehicle brand under Dongfeng Motor, expanded its reach to over 40 countries in 2025, including Norway, Finland, and Italy. Wuhan's automotive exports reached 200,000 units for the year, marking a 70 percent increase from the previous year.

Wuhan aims to produce 1.08 million vehicles in 2026, with 720,000 being NEVs, further solidifying its leadership in the global shift towards sustainable automotive solutions.
