Guidance issued for express delivery industry development

The Hohhot government has issued guidance to promote the healthy development of the express delivery industry in the city.

By 2020, the revenue of the industry will exceed 1.7 billion yuan ($245 million), a year-on-year increase of 24 percent, the guidance predicted.

By 2020, a total of 90 million items are expected to be delivered by couriers each year, a year-on-year increase of 28 percent, according to the guidance.

New efforts will be made to promote an Internet Plus delivery industry and improve innovation in the service network and business model building.

By 2020, it is expected that at least two delivery companies will record revenues of more than 300 million yuan each year, and more than six companies will see revenues over 100 million yuan.

Around five companies will be supported in expanding their operations to Mongolia and Russia. 

Furthermore, the guidance urges the promotion of the development of the express delivery industry, online service platforms and public service stations.

The guidance also calls for the construction of intelligent logistics through making full use of technologies such as the internet of things, big data and cloud computing.

As supporting measures, a coordination team will be established to promote the development of the delivery industry. Related rules and laws will also be improved, and regulations will be strengthened.
