Innovation enlivens Hohhot investment system

Hohhot made great efforts in 2016 to expand its public-private partnership (PPP) model in a bid to adapt to new conditions of economic development, according to Zhao Yingjie, deputy director of the Hohhot Finance Bureau.

Zhao reported on the city’s financial revenue and expenditure at a briefing held on Jan 20.

The Hohhot government invested 66.5 billion yuan ($9.7 billion) in 30 PPP projects in 2016. The government also applied for another 15 PPP projects in its third batch, investing 38.4 billion yuan. Nine of the 15 PPP projects have been included in the PPP database of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

So far, five projects have been carried out, with an investment of 42.7 billion yuan. Another five projects have been included in the national PPP demonstration projects database.

In 2017, the government will further enhance fiscal strength, improve management standards and build Hohhot into a modernized city full of vitality and cooperation.
