Apricots have come into full blossom at Taigedou village in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Over 2,000 apricot trees cover an area of 700 mu (46.67 hectares) in the village, making Taigedou an ideal destination for spring outings.
The village is recently preparing to welcome visitors from across the world with its fifth apricot blossom festival.
The eagerly anticipated event is scheduled to open on April 20.
In 2016, Taigedou village improved its facilities and services in a bid to develop rural tourism. It also joined hands with local ecological companies to carry out afforestation to improve the environment.
Officials said that over the past few years, the tourists the apricot blossoms have attracted to the area have brought new prosperity to local residents.
During the peak season last year, the village received more than 10,000 visitors a day.
“Taigedou will not only attract tourists through its apricot blossoms but also its leisure facilities for children,” said Yun Peng, Party secretary of the village.
Programs and features designed for children, including a water amusement park, have been launched at the village, offering more fun for young visitors.
To further develop its rural tourism, the village plans to introduce peonies and other flowers and establish three fruit-picking parks. According to the local government, 70 percent of the revenues in the park will be given to the villagers.
Officials said the local authorities are committed to pursuing the deeper integration of tourism, agriculture, as well as forests and animal husbandry -- so as to help increase the incomes of its villagers.
