Hohhot adds direct flights to Moscow
More than 300 passengers boarded a flight operated by Russia's iFLY Airlines at Hohhot Baita International Airport in the capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region on April 29.
The new flight is scheduled to operate every Sunday, linking Hohhot with the Russian capital of Moscow. It is expected that it will carry more than 2,000 passengers to the cities every month.
The flight departs Moscow at 14:00 hrs on Sundays, and officials said the journey will take more than three hours. The return flight leaves on 21:20 hrs the same day.
According to Hohhot Baita International Airport, it is the first direct flight from the airport to connect Hohhot and Moscow, and is expected to play a significant role in helping Inner Mongolia open itself up to the northern region.
Officials said that with the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative and the strategy for pursuing the integrated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the air route should help promote exchanges in business, culture and the tourism sectors between Hohhot and Moscow and inject new vitality into the economies of both sides.
