Hohhot airport increases flights during summer
Hohhot Baita International Airport has coordinated with domestic airlines to meet the growing travel needs of passengers during the summer season, according to local media reports.
Since July, the airport has seen steady growth in passenger numbers, as well as transit travelers. Airport officials said the average passenger throughput was currently is nearly 30,000 per day.
They said that the number of passengers from more than 20 cities -- including Dalian, Chongqing, Shanghai, Nanchang and Guangzhou -- increased by more than 20 percent compared with that of late June.
In addition new flights, including Hohhot-Xiliin Gol League-Tongliao, Hohhot-Yantai-Changsha, Hohhot-Shanghai and Hohhot-Hangzhou, have been launched.
Officials said that starting July 17, the Hohhot-Haikou flight has been rescheduled to fly 18-21 times a week.
As the number of passengers traveling to popular cities continues to increase, the airport has introduced wide-body aircraft to operate the Hohhot-Guangzhou, Hohhot-Shanghai (Hongqiao) and Hohhot-Chengdu air routes.
