Hohhot airport adds new international terminal
Hohhot Baita International Airport in Hohhot -- North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- is to add a new international terminal in order to handle increasing international routes and expanding passenger throughput, according to the city’s commerce bureau.
Bureau officials said that construction is currently underway and the new terminal is expected to go into operation by the end of the year.
The building will have a total construction area of 8,500 square meters, a width of 94.2 meters from east to west, a depth of 61.2 m from north to south and a total floor height of 19.65 m. The foundations will be made of reinforced concrete and the main body will have a steel structure.
The terminal will have two floors, the first covering an area of 5,978 sq m, including an arrival customs and border inspection area, international airport arrival hall, baggage claims hall, arrival and departure hall and the check-in hall.
The second floor will have an area of 2,522 sq m, including an international departure lounge.
Officials said it will be able to handle a capacity of 640,000 passengers annually in 2023.
