In recent years, Hohhot, capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has accelerated the high-quality development of its industrial economy, paid close attention to the transformation and upgrading of its traditional industries, and vigorously developed its strategic emerging industries.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) period, Hohhot formulated a series of policies and measures such as the 'Work Plan for the High-quality Development of the Industrial Economy' to promote the development of its industrial economy.

Hohhot has been taking great strides in accelerating the upgrading of its dairy industry, and has made some remarkable achievements. In order to further promote the dairy industry, Hohhot has issued strategies called the 'Three Opinions on Building an Upgraded Version of China's Dairy Capital', and the 'Three-Year Action Plan for Promoting the Upgrade of the Dairy Industry (2018-2020)'.

Yili and Mengniu, two dairy companies in China headquartered in Hohhot, now rank among the top 10 dairy companies globally.

Hohhot has a great many advantages for developing its new energy industry, with abundant silicon ore, water, wind and land resources that are suitable for photovoltaic and wind power.

The city has accelerated the development of strategic emerging industries including new materials, new energy vehicles, and big data cloud computing industries.

The cloud computing centers of the three major operators - China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom - have formed a 700,000 server capacity and attracted more than 60 e-commerce companies such as Baidu and Tencent.

It is speeding up the development of a national big data comprehensive experimental zone, and speeding up the construction of major industrial agglomeration projects such as Shuju Town and Inspur Big Data Industrial Park.

To boost the development of the modern service industry, Hohhot has carried out major modern logistics projects, including adding more logistics storage centers and e-commerce cluster area upgrades.

Of these new projects, Jinqiao E-commerce Industrial Park was selected as a national e-commerce demonstration base.
