A development plan has been formulated for the dairy industry in Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), reports Hohhot Daily.
The dairy industry is one of the city's most competitive industries. During the five year period, Hohhot will promote the downstream extension of the industrial chain, and boost the value chain to the mid-to-high end. It will further promote the production and effectiveness of two dairy industry projects - Yili Modern Smart Health Valley and Mengniu Dairy Industrial Park.
The city is expected to develop a dairy industry cluster with an annual output of more than 100 billion yuan ($15.36 billion).
Since the beginning of 2021, Hohhot has been actively attracting investment in related industries such as milk source bases, technological innovation, marketing, e-commerce, logistics, and packaging.
Hohhot has formally reached investment cooperation intentions with 16 companies in the upstream and downstream industrial chain. The signed projects involve 16 projects in four categories: milk source, technological innovation, upstream and downstream businesses, and smart cities. The agreed funds exceed 8 billion yuan.
The Yili Modern Smart Health Valley project will directly drive the construction of 30 to 50 large-scale pastures. After completion, it is expected to create a GDP of more than 100 billion yuan, a cumulative fiscal revenue of 90 billion yuan, and directly and indirectly promote the employment of more than 500,000 people.
At present, Mengniu Group is working hard to build China's dairy industry park. The new expansion of Shengmu High-tech and other factories is also advancing as scheduled, and the construction of a global R&D center, quality center, and consumer experience center is about to start.
