As of May 17, a total of 653,000 coronavirus vaccine shots had been received by residents of Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and 440,000 of them had at least had their first dose, according to Hohhot Evening News.

According to the new "coronavirus transmission coefficient" calculation, the formation of an immune barrier in the population generally requires about 70 to 80 percent of people to be vaccinated.

At present, according to data produced by researchers monitoring the frequency of abnormal reactions to these injections, the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine is good, and it has lower incidences of abnormal reactions than similar vaccines used during the previous immunization program.

In order to better guarantee vaccination services, 109 COVID-19 vaccination points have been established in Hohhot city.

Currently, eight large-scale fixed vaccination points are being built, and 20 vaccination stations are set up at each point. Each vaccination point has a daily vaccination service capacity of more than 2,000 doses.

The city adopted a centralized vaccination method for teachers and students in colleges and universities, and set up travel vaccination stations on campuses.

At present, college teachers and students have received more than 90,000 COVID-19 vaccine injections.

By the end of June, the vaccination target task of more than 260,000 teachers and students in 27 universities will be completed.
