Hohhot – capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has been making great strides in expanding its technological innovation platforms and accelerating the development of its modern services industry, according to a report in the Hohhot Daily.
This year, plans are for the city to continue to promote two major dairy industry projects: Yili Modern Smart Health Valley and the Mengniu Dairy Industrial Park.
The aim is to develop a dairy industry cluster with an annual output value of 100 billion yuan ($15.42 billion) and to develop the metropolis as an advanced version of "China's Dairy City".

In the modern energy industry, Hohhot will focus on energy-saving technological transformation and clean production, as well as promote the development of major industrial projects including Jiutai's coal-to-ethylene glycol project.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Hohhot plans to implement the Zhonghuan Photovoltaic Monocrystalline Silicon Phase V capacity expansion and Huayao Monocrystalline Silicon Slicing projects. The aim is to further expand the production capacity of advanced products and develop a solar silicon materials R&D and production base.
To increase its modern service industry, Hohhot will speed up planning and construction of a new business area around the Hohhot East Railway Station. It will develop two commercial complexes, break ground at the Inner Mongolia SKP flagship store project and build over 100 branded chain convenience stores.
In addition, Hohhot plans to establish itself as a national logistics hub and push ahead with the development of an international cold chain industrial park.
