Major eco-tourism project underway in N China's Hohhot

A major eco-tourism project focusing on horse culture is currently underway in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and is expected to be completed in May 2022, according to local media reports.
Construction started on the Inner Mongolia Aoweima Cultural and Ecological Tourism Zone, located in Shengle town, Horinger county, in 2014. It is a national 4A-level scenic spot and the first characteristic town in China focusing on horse culture.
The zone's first phase will cover an area of 5 square kilometers and cost 3 billion yuan ($465 million).

The scenic spot will have a racetrack that can accommodate 20,000 spectators, stables, a multi-functional and comprehensive performance hall for equestrian training, a horse culture museum and other supporting facilities.
