Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Co, one of China's dairy industry giants, is set to increase its social responsibility and create more social value, as stated at the Yili Leadership Summit 2021 held on Nov 19 to 21.
Pan Gang, president of Yili Group, proposed at the summit that as an industry leader, Yili will take the lead in achieving peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, achieving leading sustainable development ratings, and promoting the realization of common prosperity goals.
Yili has been setting up a comprehensive organizational structure for decarbonization initiatives since 2010, and is the first dairy company in China to implement an independent carbon inventory.
It is estimated that by 2030, the carbon emissions per metric ton of dairy products produced by Yili will be reduced by 40 percent compared with that in 2012.
In 2021, Yili officially launched the "Yili Group Carbon Neutralization Project", and carried out a full life cycle carbon footprint calculation for liquid milk, cold drinks, milk powder, yogurt and other product lines.

Over the years, Yili Group has gradually explored a targeted poverty alleviation model for industrial bases, combined with the industrial characteristics of poverty-stricken areas, and helped lift poor people out of poverty through the development of planting and breeding industries. At the same time, it has actively carried out educational poverty alleviation and provided employment support.
