Hohhot hosts annual people's congress

Hohhot city, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, reported robust development in 2021, with major economic indicators showing relatively strong performances, according to a government work report delivered at the first session of the 16th Hohhot People's Congress held there on Feb 10.
In 2021, the gross domestic product or gross domestic product or GDP of Inner Mongolia's capital hit 312.14 billion yuan ($49 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6.5 percent, ranking Hohhot third in the autonomous region.
In 2021, fixed asset investment increased by 12.3 percent year-on-year and investment in high-tech manufacturing accounted for 5.8 percent of the total amount.
The added value of industries above a designated size in the city increased by 9.5 percent.
The operating income and total profit of industrial enterprises above a designated size – those with annual revenues of 20 million yuan or more, also reportedly recorded healthy growth.
The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents reached 53,026 yuan and 22,435 yuan, an increase of 6.5 percent and 9.5 percent, respectively.

Development goals for the city in 2022 were released at the event, with the city projected to achieve 7 percent growth in regional GDP, 8 percent growth in the added value of industries above a designated scale and 10 percent growth in fixed asset investment.
Moreover, the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents is expected to increase by 8 percent.
