Hohhot city, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, will continue to boost its COVID-19 vaccine program, increasing the vaccination rate to strengthen the establishment of immune barriers, according to a news conference on epidemic prevention and control held on March 16.
As of 17:00 on March 15, Hohhot had completed issuing a total of 6.73 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with the number of people to have completed the whole process of vaccination reaching 2.9 million.
Of these, 442,800 people over the age of 60 had completed the whole vaccination course and 725,600 people over the age of 18 had received their third booster shot.
Wang Dawei, deputy director of the Hohhot Center for Disease Control and Prevention, called on the elderly over 60 years old in the city without contraindications to take the initiative to vaccinate against the new coronavirus, and to complete the whole course of the vaccine as soon as possible to strengthen their own immunity.
According to Wang, at present the vaccination rate for those over 60 years old in Hohhot, especially those over 80, is still low compared with the whole population and the roll-out of the third booster injection needs to be accelerated.
