Hohhot ecological environment changes remarkably
Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, made remarkable achievements in cleaning its water and cleaning up the air from 2016 to 2021, greatly improving the natural environment for the city.
Over a five-year period, Hohhot completed 18 rectification tasks reported by the central environmental protection inspector in 2016, and handed over 904 petition reports from the public.
In 2018, Hohhot handled 21 rectification tasks reported by the special inspector group of grassland ecological environment issues, and 659 petitions and reports from the public.
In 2019, Hohhot received 47 rectification tasks reported by the ecological and environmental protection inspectors in the autonomous region.
To date, 44 of the tasks have been rectified, with the remaining three currently being implemented.
Additionally, of the 17 rectification tasks reported by the region’s special inspector group of surface water in the Yellow River Basin in 2021, seven items have been rectified and the remaining 10 are being implemented.
The Jinqiao Thermal Power Plant and Xijiao Power Plant ash storage yard have gone from being a major source of complaints among residents to popular parks great for relaxation and recreation.
The 76 enterprises in Jiahe Coal Logistics Park in Tuoxian county have achieved fully-closed operation, and problems related to coal ash and dust pollution have been solved.
