Hohhot builds fangcang shelter hospital
Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, started construction on a fangcang shelter hospital on Feb 15 in response to the new wave of COVID-19.
The fangcang shelter hospital is a large temporary hospital whose mission is to isolate a large number of COVID-19 confirmed patients with mild symptoms.
It will be used for quarantine, triage, provision of basic medical care, close monitoring and rapid referral, as well as basic living and social activities to relieve people's anxiety about their illness and isolation.
The Inner Mongolia International Convention and Exhibition Center in Hohhot has been renovated into a fangcang shelter hospital.
A series of facilities including 518 beds, two medical offices, six nurse stations and two disinfection rooms have been set up in the center's Hall A. In addition, four mobile bus toilets were set up outside the center’s east and west doors.
The facilities are expected to ensure the safe and effective closed-loop disposal of medical waste and pollutants.
The Hohhot fangcang shelter hospital is ready to be used at any time.
Additionally, Hall B of the Inner Mongolia International Convention and Exhibition Center is reserved for the construction of additional beds and is expected to be able to house another 1,600 beds.
Construction materials have already been reserved, and if epidemic prevention work requires it, construction can be completed and begin operating within 36 hours.
By then, the total number of beds in Hohhot's fangcang shelter hospital will reach 2,200, strengthening emergency response.
