Hohhot city – capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has set itself five-year development goals, aiming to grow into a premier regional science and technology innovation center, according to local media reports.

On April 14, the city hosted a signing ceremony for major sci-tech cooperation.

The Hohhot municipal government and the Science and Technology Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region signed a protocol on the new work consultation system.

In addition, the Hohhot municipal government signed cooperation framework agreements with the China University of Petroleum, Beijing Normal University, Beijing Junyuan Precision Technology Co and the Beijing Liando Investment Group.

The signing ceremony witnessed the launch of the Hohhot Science and Technology Innovation Center (Beijing) and the National Metrology Science Data Center Health Digital Sub-center.

Based on national innovation platforms in such areas as the dairy industry, the grass seeds industry and biological vaccines, Hohhot plans to build a number of innovative platform carriers.

It will strive to implement major scientific and technological breakthroughs and develop a multi-level personnel recruitment and training system.

In 2021, the city launched an innovative project called "two zones, two centers and five bases". It promoted the construction of the Jinshan High-tech Zone and Horinger New Zone and established the National Dairy Technology Innovation Center and the Grass Seed Technology Innovation Center.

The city plans to create a world-class development complex for the dairy industry and to promote the overall upgrading of the sector.

As the project's mainstay, the National Dairy Technology Innovation Center will seek to attract domestic and foreign dairy innovation resources. It will also push to meet national strategic needs as well as address industrial issues, with the goal of building a globally influential dairy technology innovation hub.

The National Dairy Technology Innovation Center will set up five research centers and three service platforms, in order to undertake scientific research and provide various services.
