Key projects worth 30b yuan start construction in Hohhot
Construction on 28 key projects in the modern chemicals industry involving billions of dollars kicked off in Hohhot – capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – in the wake of a signing ceremony which was held on May 28.
The total investment of the projects is estimated to be 30 billion yuan ($4.49 billion).
The modern chemicals industry is one of the six major industrial clusters that Hohhot has focused on developing.
In recent years, the city has promoted the innovation and upgrading of modern industrial industries. In so doing, it has established specialized sectors including petroleum refining, as well as the coal chemicals and natural gas chemicals industries.
In 2021, the total industrial output value of Hohhot’s modern industrial cluster hit 28 billion yuan, accounting for 15 percent of its total industrial output value. As a result, the modern chemicals industry has become the second largest industry in the city's industrial economy in terms of output value, after the power industry.
