Hohhot city – capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has established a solid foundation for its clean energy industry and now has advantages and a competitive edge in the autonomous region and in North and Northwest China, according to local media reports.

Plans are for the city to focus in the current year on the implementation of 48 projects, including the green power replacement project in Zhonghuan Industrial City. Others include a source network load-storage project in Tuoqing Industrial Park.

Efforts will be made to promote the integrated development of "source, network, load and storage" in clean energy industries such as wind power, solar power and hydrogen energy.

The Inner Mongolia Clean Energy Industry Association was officially launched in Hohhot on Oct 20 last year, marking the first industry association to focus on clean energy in the autonomous region.

It will strive for Hohhot to become a clean energy industry demonstration city in the country.

By 2025, it is expected that the annual output value from the clean energy industry cluster in Hohhot will exceed 50 billion yuan ($7.48 billion).

The installed capacity for renewable energy is projected to reach 8 million kilowatts, accounting for more than 40 percent of the city's total installed power capacity.
