Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, recently added another 56 science and technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises or SMEs, according to the city's science and technology bureau.

Since the evaluation of technology-based SMEs was carried out in 2017, the ranks of those in Hohhot have swelled from 8 to 229, an increase of 2,762.5 percent.

The autonomous region's science and technology department has recently announced the list of the fourth batch of technology-based SMEs in 2022.

There are 248 such enterprises in Inner Mongolia, of which 56 are based in Hohhot, accounting for 22.6 percent of the total.
