Major cloud computing project breaks ground in Horinger
Construction work on a data center in the China Telecom Cloud Computing Inner Mongolia Information Park has begun in Hohhot – capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – marking another step in the city's cloud computing development.
The data center and its support facilities, with a total floor space of some 45,000 square meters, are expected to be ready in May 2023.
When complete, the facility – in Area B of the information park – will be the largest cloud computing park in China and the largest internet data exchange center in Asia, according to the Inner Mongolia Daily.
The China Telecom Cloud Computing Inner Mongolia Information Park is one of the major projects in the development of a Horinger data center cluster.
The total investment of the information park is 17.3 billion yuan ($2.58 billion) and plans are for 42 data centers and 19 support buildings to be erected. Altogether, the park will have an installed capacity of more than 100,000 racks and cloud computing capacity of more than 1 million servers.
