Plans are for a science and technology achievement commercialization demonstration area to settle in the Horinger New Area – in Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – in the wake of the green light given by the region's science and technology department.

The demonstration area, after getting subsidy support of 2 million yuan ($299,000), will be the first demonstration zone for sci-tech achievement commercialization in Inner Mongolia.

It will focus on the commercialization of major scientific and technological achievements in the fields of big data, biotechnology and new materials. It will establish a mechanism and model, as well as build a complete ecosystem for the commercialization of these achievements.

The goal is that by 2025, the demonstration area will develop five national and autonomous region-level innovation platform carriers and two scientific and technological achievement industrialization bases.

Furthermore, it will introduce five scientific and technological achievement transformation service agencies and help develop 30 resident high-tech enterprises during the period. 

In addition, the number of technology-based enterprises in the demonstration area is expected to reach 200 by 2025.
