Hohhot implements key measures to boost rural revitalization
Hohhot city – capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has implemented nine key measures to give a real boost to its rural revitalization, according to local media reports.
The city has improved its monitoring and assistance mechanism – which covers, among others, farmers at risk of descending into poverty and those who have sudden serious difficulties – by simplifying the process and shortening identification times.
Based on the city's distinctive layout of its agriculture and animal husbandry sectors, Hohhot is developing certain industries in poverty alleviation-targeted regions.
Wuchuan county, for one, is focusing on the cultivation and processing of oats, as well as pig breeding and other specialized areas. Elsewhere, Qingshuihe county is focusing on developing grain planting and the agricultural and livestock product processing industries.
Hohhot is also understood to be doing a good job in providing poverty prevention insurance. In 2022, the municipal budget has allocated 8.5 million yuan ($1.27 million) in poverty prevention insurance funds to cover the city's rural registered population of 900,500.
The metropolis has also continued to deepen cooperation between Beijing and Inner Mongolia. Hohhot this year secured 16 Beijing-Inner Mongolia cooperation projects, with a total capital of 39.78 million yuan.
These are expected to support key rural revitalization counties like Wuchuan county in boosting their consumer spending, industrial cooperation, labor cooperation, training people and other areas.
