The 2022 National Ice and Snow Week (Inner Mongolia division) opened on Aug 7 with great fanfare in Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – wowing the crowds – according to a report in the Hohhot Evening News.
The week-long event, hosted by the Sports Federation of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has set up ice and snow carnival project experiences such as skating, curling, roller skating, and dryland curling.
It has also arranged online cloud training for those who want to gain ice and snow sports knowledge and skills.
The event will run to Aug 10 and branch venues have been set up in Chifeng, Ordos, Alshaa League and Wuhai.
In recent years, Inner Mongolia, as a major area for ice and snow sports, has added more ice and snow venues. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), an estimated 6 million people participated in ice and snow sports in the autonomous region.
