Hohhot city – capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has been making every effort to build itself up as a modern regional transportation and logistics center, according to local media reports.
The city plans to develop a commerce and service-oriented national logistics hub, following its inclusion last year in the list of the first batch of national logistics hubs in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), released by the National Development and Reform Commission.
The logistics hub will be located in Yili Modern Smart Health Valley and will cover an area of 2,400 mu (160 hectares). It will be divided into two major areas, namely the Yili Logistics Area and Tietong Logistics Area.
The logistics hub will be the only one of its kind in the autonomous region and will make Hohhot one of 25 logistics hub cities in the country.
This year, there are 67 key projects earmarked to kick off in the field of trade and logistics in Hohhot, with a total investment of 65.8 billion yuan ($9.51 billion) and an annual average planned investment of 8.68 billion yuan.
Located in the Horinger New Area, one of them is the Yunda headquarters base project which will have a total investment of 690 million yuan and cover an area of 359 mu.
After ramping up to full production, the average daily processing volume of orders is projected to reach 1 million, while the average output value per mu will be 1.5 million yuan.
Plans are for the project to start operating during the Double Eleven shopping gala this year, which is expected to greatly improve Yunda Express' service levels in Inner Mongolia and to help the overall push to create an internet of things center in the autonomous region.
