North China's Hohhot aims to be magnet for new talent
Hohhot city – capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has made substantial progress in attracting high-caliber talent, with related policies issued and its business environment greatly enhanced, according to local media reports.
The 10 Policies for Attracting Talent in Hohhot (Trial) are said to have greatly boosted entrepreneurship and innovation in the city. It has compiled the "Hohhot Medium-Term Talent Development Plan", optimizing its policies in areas such as personnel training, recruitment and leveraging the strengths of the workforce.
Huawei Technologies Co – the multinational tech group based in the city of Shenzhen in South China – has established its new Huawei ICT Academy with Inner Mongolia University, Hohhot Vocational College and other institutions.
A student training plan has been jointly put together by Huawei and Hohhot and more than 10 teacher training sessions have been carried out to date. The number of students who have obtained vocational qualification certification in Huawei ICT-related fields now exceeds 1,000.
Furthermore, Huawei has established the Hohhot Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center. It focuses on serving enterprises in the six major industrial clusters in Hohhot and will provide businesses with consultations on AI technology and conduct training of their technical personnel.
The city is prioritizing hiring smart young people and is said to have taken the lead in the region in rolling out incentives and other measures designed to lure them, including offering such benefits as housing to graduates.
It has launched a program aimed at bringing in 100,000 university graduates to find employment there. To that end, it has successively introduced support policies for graduates to buy houses at half price, secured loans for those wanting to start their own businesses in the region and offered one-off entrepreneurship subsidies.
Overall, it is providing a full range of guaranteed services for graduate employment and entrepreneurship.
