Monishan town selected as national intangible cultural heritage scenic spot

Monishan Intangible Heritage Town – located in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has been selected as a national intangible cultural heritage tourist attraction, according to a list released by the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association.
The town is the first museum in the autonomous region to focus on intangible cultural heritage and handicrafts. It is home to an intangible cultural heritage creation area, an exhibition area, experience area and research and study base.
The selection aims to discover and cultivate outstanding projects for the integration of intangible cultural heritage and tourism, and to promote the integration of culture and tourism.
There are a total of 200 selected projects for the integrated development of intangible cultural heritage and tourism.
After procedures such as acceptance of application, expert review, and publicity at joint review, the selected projects are divided into four types: intangible cultural heritage tourist attractions, intangible cultural heritage tourist towns, intangible cultural heritage tourist blocks, and intangible cultural heritage tourist villages.
