Hohhot city records growth in imports, exports in 2022
The city of Hohhot – capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – reported strong gains made last year in its foreign trade, with the value of imports and exports coming in at 18.27 billion yuan ($2.71 billion), a year-on-year increase of 14.4 percent, according to the latest statistics.
Imports were worth 8.97 billion yuan, up 13.3 percent, while exports were 9.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.4 percent.
As a result, Hohhot has achieved four consecutive annual increases in total imports and exports since 2019.
The data showed that in 2022, the value of foreign trade by private enterprises in Hohhot was 9.91 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.9 percent - accounting for 54.2 percent of the city's total imports and exports.
Among commodities, imports were mainly agricultural products worth 5.78 billion yuan, accounting for 64.4 percent of the city's import value. Exports were mainly high-tech products, with an export value of 1.43 billion yuan, accounting for 15.4 percent of the city's export value.
In terms of trading partners, last year the value of Hohhot's imports and exports to the United States was 3.77 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.7 percent.
