Hohhot records holiday tourism revenue of 1.2b yuan

Hohhot city, the capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, recently recorded a solid performance by its tourism industry, which generated a May Day holiday revenue of 1.21 billion yuan ($176 million), a year-on-year growth of 266.18 percent, according to local media reports.
Over the five-day break, from April 29 to May 3, tourists made 1.87 million trips to the city, a year-on-year increase of 196.47 percent.

Most tourists coming to the city choose short tours of the local area, with stops at major tourist attractions such as Saishang Old Street, Dazhao Plaza, and Monishan Intangible Heritage Town.
Tourists from Hohhot and Baotou cities accounted for 93.75 percent of the total tourists.
The city has reinforced its measures for preventing and controlling the novel coronavirus epidemic to ensure a safe and organized environment for tourists. It introduced extra security patrols and inspections at key tourist attractions, with special arrangements to ensure adequate numbers of officials were on duty to handle any complaints over the break.
