Elite short-track speed skating league opens in Hohhot

The ongoing 2023-2024 China Cup Short Track Speed Skating Elite League (Hohhot division) and the 14th National Winter Games Qualifying Tournament kicked off in Hohhot – capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – on Sept 12.
Elite skaters – including Wu Dajing, Ren Ziwei, Zhong Yuchen and Shaolin Sandor Liu – participated in a thrilling nine-lap pursuit.
The competition consists of two categories – an Open Group and a Youth Group. Events include both the men's and women's 500-meter, 1,000 m and 1,500 m races, as well as a women's 3,000 m relay, men's 5,000 m relay and a mixed team 2,000 m relay.
The tournament spans six days, with Sept 12-13 dedicated to pursuit timing tests and Sept 14-17 as the official competition days, including the finals.
Zhong Yuchen, representing the Heilongjiang team, expressed his excitement about competing in Hohhot for the first time. He felt well-adapted to the ice and pledged to bring his best form to the competition and demonstrate the results of his pre-competition training.
