The dairy industry in Hohhot – capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has gone from strength to strength, continuously leading the dairy revival and earning it the title of "China's Dairy Capital."
This year, it hosted the first World Dairy Industry Conference and was honored with the titles of Dairy Science and Technology Capital of the World and Dairy Breeding Capital of China.

Hohhot has nurtured the largest dairy enterprises in China, with Yili and Mengniu ranked among the top 10 dairy companies in the world, at fifth and seventh places respectively.
As the largest dairy product company in China, Yili has 15 research and innovation centers worldwide, as well as 81 production bases.
For its part, Mengniu holds a leading position in high-end fresh milk, low-temperature yogurt, high-end cheese and in other sectors – with its products entering markets in more than 10 countries and regions including Southeast Asia, Oceania and North America.
As a result, Hohhot has formed a complete dairy industry supply chain. In 2022, the city's dairy industry was estimated to have generated total revenue of over 220 billion yuan ($30.39 billion), making it an advanced manufacturing cluster of dairy products, the only one recognized by the country.
