Hohhot accelerates modern industry construction with project focus
Spring brings vibrant scenes to Hohhot, where the construction site of Inner Mongolia Energy Group's Jinshan Thermal Power Plant Phase III buzzes with activity.
The project features two 1-million-kilowatt high-efficiency ultra-supercritical air-cooled coal-fired heating units. Upon completion, it will produce 10 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, marking a significant milestone for the Western Inner Mongolia Power Grid. With a heating capacity of 50 million square meters and the ability to supply 1,200 metric tons of industrial steam per hour to Hohhot, this project is set to contribute 390 million yuan ($53.91 million) in taxes annually.
Hohhot is currently fast-tracking several pivotal projects as part of its 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) objectives. The city's focus is now on high-quality development, prioritizing manufacturing and real economy sectors. This strategy includes enhancing existing strengths, fostering new capabilities, integrating digital technologies with green initiatives, upgrading infrastructure, and optimizing supply chain management for comprehensive progress.
In 2024, Hohhot plans to execute six major industrial clusters that encompass 389 key projects, with a total investment of 411.61 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 83.11 billion yuan. As of now, 179 projects are underway, targeting the completion and commissioning of 130 projects, generating an additional output value of 40 billion yuan. Furthermore, the city is preparing to invest 250 billion yuan into300 reserve projects.
These projects span green agriculture, new materials, modern equipment manufacturing, electronics, biomedicine, and clean energy sectors.
