The 2024 Green Methanol Energy Development Forum, held on Oct 29 in Hohhot, brought together experts from international organizations, government departments, academia, research institutions, and industry leaders. Together, they explored innovative pathways to drive high-quality growth in green energy and sustainable production.
Notable speakers included Li Shufu, Chairman of Geely Holding Group; Liu Ke, an Australian National Academy of Engineering Foreign Fellow; and Greg Dolan, CEO of the Global Methanol Industry Association. Their presentations highlighted new directions in low-carbon methanol technologies and applications that support the energy revolution and industrial transformation.
During the event, Geely's New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group signed strategic agreements with nine local companies to collaborate on methanol-hydrogen products, reinforcing Hohhot's focus on creating a green methanol industry hub. As part of Inner Mongolia's "wind-solar-hydrogen-vehicle" demonstration, Hohhot has prioritized constructing methanol fuel infrastructure and developing its first methanol vehicle manufacturing base to enhance green transportation options.
The forum underscores Hohhot's commitment to renewable energy leadership and showcases how methanol-powered innovations could be crucial to achieving sustainable growth and a low-carbon economy.
