In recent years, Hohhot has seized the opportunity presented by the "Eastern Data and Western Computing" initiative to position itself as a leading hub for digital computing power. With the advantages of power supply, network infrastructure, and the strategic location of the Hohhot-Horinger New Area, the city has rapidly developed a green, high-quality, and secure computing industry, the "China Cloud Valley".
Hohhot has become a key node in the nation's integrated computing network. The city has built dedicated internet data channels and a direct connection to the national internet backbone, attracting numerous industry leaders to establish computing and smart data centers. This has led to a boom in digital industry projects and the growth of innovative enterprises and talented professionals.
By 2023, Hohhot ranked 15th among China's top 20 cities in terms of computing power. Horinger New Area currently hosts 35 computing power projects, 266,000 standard racks, and a server capacity of 1.5 million units.
With the establishment of major centers, such as the world's largest liquid-cooled smart computing center and data centers for TikTok and the China Meteorological Administration, the area is well-positioned to meet growing demand. By the end of the year, the new area's computing power capacity is expected to reach 41,000P, with 38,000P in intelligent computing power. Hohhot aims to build the "China Cloud Valley" into a world-class digital industrial cluster, enhancing global competitiveness and influence.
