Togtoh county in Hohhot launched a series of cultural events to celebrate Lantern Festival, which took place on Feb 12 this year. Traditional performances, such as dragon and lion dances, yangko dances, and stilt walking, took turns presenting a spectacular folk culture feast for the county.
The Hekou dragon dance was undoubtedly the event's highlight. Vibrant dragons, skillfully maneuvered by performers, soared and leaped through the air, sometimes coiling and twisting as if alive. Every movement was executed precisely, drawing waves of cheers and thunderous applause from the audience. Many spectators eagerly raised their phones, capturing these breathtaking moments.
Next, the "dry boat and flower sedan yangko" performance pushed the atmosphere to its peak. Exquisitely crafted dry boats glided effortlessly across the stage, while performers dressed in vibrant traditional costumes vividly mimicked the motion of boats sailing on water with remarkably lifelike movements.
In addition to the dragon dance and dry boat yangko, folk performances took the stage one after another, creating a vibrant spectacle. The entire venue was filled with the rhythmic beat of drums, laughter, and cheers, creating a festive symphony.
Towns, villages, and communities all across the county organized Lantern Festival activities, adding to the festive atmosphere.
