On March 28, a TIR (transport international routier) cross-border truck carrying cold chain storage equipment successfully completed all customs procedures, including declaration and inspection, at the Hohhot Comprehensive Bonded Zone's newly launched highway customs supervision site. The truck then departed from the bonded zone, marking the official opening of the "China (Hohhot) - Mongolia (Ulaanbaatar)" TIR.
This milestone also signifies the start of full operations for Hohhot's first highway customs supervision site.
The outbound cargo, valued at approximately 400,000 yuan ($55,160), was organized and dispatched by Beixing Industrial Investment Development Co, a State-owned platform under the Hohhot Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
After being directly released within the bonded zone, the shipment will exit China through Ereenhot Port and pass through Zamiin-Uud in Mongolia before reaching Ulaanbaatar without any vehicle or cargo transfers. The one-way journey spans 1,100 kilometers, with a round-trip cycle of about three days. This new cross-border highway transport route between Hohhot and Ulaanbaatar provides a highly efficient logistics channel amid deepening China-Mongolia trade.
By taking advantage of the TIR transport system and the bonded zone's highway customs supervision site, border clearance is sped up significantly, cutting transportation time by over 200 percent and costs by more than 50 percent. This enables businesses to enjoy faster, more cost-effective logistics solutions.
