Hohhot concludes 2026 Spring Festival travel rush
The 40-day 2026 Spring Festival travel rush came to an end on March 13, with China Railway Hohhot Group Co transporting a total of 4.54 million passengers.
This year, the pre-festival travel peak occurred from Feb 12 to 15, while the post-festival peak ran from Feb 22 to 25. The highest single-day passenger volume was recorded on Feb 23, with 169,600 passengers.

China Railway Hohhot Group Co utilized the 12306 platform's ticket pre-sale system and standby monitoring data to analyze travel patterns, assess passenger flow trends, and optimize transportation capacity allocation, ensuring a phased deployment of resources.
During the travel rush, Hohhot East Station hosted themed cultural activities, featuring performances such as morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) music and dance shows. Reading promotions and museum tours combined festive spirit with cultural learning.
China Railway Hohhot Group Co introduced over 10 convenient services for passengers. Hohhot East Station offered luggage delivery services, while Ordos Station developed a "Warm Travel Guide" QR code and introduced six "one-stop" care services.
China Railway Hohhot Group Co ensured the stable and orderly transport of key materials, prioritizing the delivery of coal, Chinese New Year goods, and spring farming materials like fertilizers and seeds. During the travel period, the bureau transported 2.09 million metric tons of coal, 47,900 tons of Chinese New Year goods, and 309,300 tons of spring farming materials.
Additionally, the Ereenhot Railway Port maintained efficient operations during the travel rush, continuously optimizing the organization of China-Europe freight trains to ensure smooth international logistics. During this period, the port handled 466 inbound and outbound China-Europe freight trains.
