The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design has announced the winners of the 2025 Green Good Design Awards.

Among the honorees is the Hohhot Sculpture Gallery, designed by Zhang Pengju, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor at Inner Mongolia University of Technology.

The Green Good Design Awards originated from the Chicago Good Design Awards, established in 1950. Co-hosted by the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in the United States, it is one of the world's most influential public welfare design awards. Presented annually, the awards emphasize green development and sustainability, recognizing individuals, institutions, and projects that advance ecological protection and promote green development through innovative design. The program advocates the responsible use of the Earth's resources, greater attention to environmental issues, and the advancement of design, manufacturing, and urban spaces toward healthy, sustainable development.

Located within the Grassland Silk Road Cultural Park, the Hohhot Sculpture Gallery is the third-largest venue of its kind in China. It is a comprehensive cultural landmark integrating sculpture exhibitions, academic exchanges, and public cultural experiences. The design centers on the creation of natural landscapes, with scientifically planned pedestrian routes linking the building's roof, outdoor areas, and interior spaces.

From design and construction to completion and opening, the entire project took only 100 days.
