Chilechuan Grassland accelerates cultural tourism development
Chilechuan Grassland is advancing the development of a national-level tourist resort, forging a vivid path toward ecological priority and the integration of culture, sports, tourism, and commerce with urban and rural areas.
The area where Chilechuan Grassland is located was once sparsely vegetated and ecologically fragile. Authorities launched a systematic ecological restoration project through a series of scientific measures, including soil and water conservation, vegetation replanting, and biological habitat restoration. Now, grassland vegetation coverage has leaped from less than 20 percent to over 85 percent.

Hohhot has made the transformation of Chilechuan Grassland a key project in the city's cultural tourism development, continuously improving all-for-tourism infrastructure and supporting service systems. The scenic area has also built a standardized tourist distribution center, launched a smart navigation system, and developed diversified commercial facilities integrating leisure, dining, shopping, and experiences.
Horse culture is the core distinctive feature and competitive advantage that sets Chilechuan Grassland apart from other grassland scenic areas. The scenic area's horse dance drama Eternal Horse Ode assembles over 100 fine-breed horses, combining equestrian acrobatics, Mongolian song and dance, and grassland stories. It has been performed for many years and has become a must-see performance for tourists. Horse racing events are held periodically, complemented by consumer experiences such as equestrian photography tours and horseback riding.
