Shanlian, located in southern Naxun district, is the birthplace of the Huzhou ink brush. It has been designated as a Chinese folk culture art village thanks to its profound history involving the ink brush.

According to local authorities, a memorial activity for Meng Tian, the inventor of the Huzhou ink brush and famous military general of the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), was held at the ceremony.

The activity attracted leaders and experts in ink brush manufacturing industries from all over China.
