The 700-year-old Nanxun ancient town, which was closed two months ago due to the coronavirus outbreak, reopened on March 20 in Huzhou, Zhejiang province, signaling a rebound in the tourism sector.

With very few new domestic cases being reported in recent days, the ancient town decided to reopen to tourists while strictly following epidemic prevention guidance and setting a limit on visitor numbers.

Tourists are required to present their health QR codes, have their temperatures taken, wear masks, and maintain a distance of no less than 1.5 meters from others. Those with abnormal temperatures will not be allowed to enter.

The town enjoys a history of more than 700 years and preserves many ancient buildings, such as Little Lotus Villa and Jiaye Library. Bridges run over rippling rivers and white walls form a vibrant landscape. The harmony of culture and natural scenery make the ancient town fascinating. It was listed as a national 5A scenic spot in 2015.

Little Lotus Villa was the private garden of Liu Yong, a wealthy Qing official. The rippling pond and the winding path create a relaxing atmosphere. Within the garden, there are some elaborately carved stone gates and a small family shrine.

Jiaye Library once was one of the largest private libraries in Southeast China, with a collection of more than 30,000 books. The library is surrounded by pavilions, corridors and a lake with lotuses. The main features of a private garden are presented well here.

Night tours of Nanxun also attract visitors who want to experience the romance of the town. Walking along the river and enjoying the lit-up buildings, visitors can experience the other side of the town's beauty.
